This lampshade is handmade in Bali, Indonesia.
When selecting our local production partners, we attach great importance to fair pay, safe working conditions and reasonable working hours. We work exclusively with small family businesses that have a maximum of 20 to 30 employees. They are all experienced craftspeople of legal age. Older people in particular, who can no longer work in agriculture, benefit from jobs in the skilled trades, as they can use the skills they learned early on to earn money and pass on traditional production methods to the younger generation. They have often told us how happy they are to be able to do something meaningful with this work and earn a good living. As all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process causes hardly any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.

Our Lampung lampshades are made by experienced craftsmen on the Indonesian island of Java. They begin by manually shaping a metal frame, which serves as a stable foundation. They then carefully weave the thinly cut and dried seagrass fibers, which are first tied together to form thick, fringed strands, into the frame using jute cord. The entire process
