Rattan palms tend to grow in large quantities in dense forests, where they are considered invasive plants because they take up space from other plants and remove many nutrients from the soil. The stalks, which grow back quickly without chemical additives, must be cut off regularly and can be used as material for furniture and baskets after the drying process. This makes rattan an extremely sustainable and abundantly available material.

In the factories where we source our goods, we work exclusively with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. As all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process causes hardly any greenhouse gas emissions.
