Rattan palms tend to grow in large quantities in dense forests, where they are considered invasive plants because they take up space from other plants and remove many nutrients from the soil. The stalks, which grow back quickly without chemical additives, must be cut off regularly and can be used as material for furniture and baskets after the drying process.
